FIRST PAPER

Subject : # 14217 Poesia Inglesa Siglos XIX y XX Grupo A

Student´s name : Moreno Bellón, Paula

Title of the paper : "LONDON" : The society from a different point of view.

Author or topic : Blake, William

Abstract : In this paper I have analysed the poem ‘London’, its context, Blake’s complete works related with the poem, the importance of the poem for Blake and, finally, the relation of the poem with today.

Working on this paper I have reached the little conclusion that most of the works of William Blake seem to be made for today’s society. With his poems we can learn about important aspects of his time and our time.

Because of this, William Blake is a poet that will always be present among those who appreciate good poetry and a good poet who had no problems to tell the truth to the world.

                                                                SECOND PAPER

Title of the paper: FROM ROMANTICISM WITH KEATS TO VICTORIAN AGE WITH TENNYSON’: Development of poetry within the socio- historical context.

Author or topic: Keats, John and Tennyson, Alfred.

Abstract: My objective in this second paper has been the analysis of poetry’s development from the late Romanticism to the early Victorian Age. Concretely I have focused this analysis to the socio- historical context of those times, introducing a comparison between a Romantic poem and a Victorian poem. The comparison between the poems helps to understand better this evolution in poetry related to the socio- historical context.

And finally, I have to say that I have chosen Keats and Tennyson because they are the best example where we can see an evolution in these aspects.

Auto- evaluation:

With these papers I have learnt about two very important periods. But the most important thing is that I have learnt to relate concepts, to analyse a poem and trying to understand the mind of a poet through poetry.

I have dedicated many time and effort in these papers trying to do them as best as possible, so I think that I deserve a 7 to 8 mark.
