The work takes place in a determined place where could be Kabul. I figured out this because the images remember me this type of landscape and the title of the hypertext. The images appear in all options that the reader chooses within the main points. For example, if the reader follows the logical order which would be begin with ‘Initial will’, he will be able to choose between ‘Brain L’, ‘Head’ and ‘Kidney’. It doesn’t matter which to choose, it will guides you to a new screen where you will see the three options. Each option has its image and a text. Moreover, we will be able to hear the text if we click on it and we can come back to the beginning if we click on ‘home’ and return clicking on ‘back’. It is really interesting the icons. There’s one with the shape of a blowfly which gives us back to the home page, but we first see some screens with images, an outline of the main points.


The following is an abstract of Sonya Rapoport's presentation given in Paris in March 2003 at a SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Workshop entitled ENCODING ALTRUISM: The Art and Science of Interstellar Message Composition.


Kabbalah/ Kabul: Sending Emanations to the Aliens endeavours to integrate the infinite outer universe with the altruistic universe that resides within us on earth. It adapts an artwork-in-progress for the web from a form that is meaningful to human beings, into a form that attempts to communicate with other beings on a distant planet. The art project's hybrid imagery combines primal humanity perceived in Afghan news photos, with scientific procedures such as cell differentiation, injection of stem cells, cell replication, and gene splicing.

These provide the technology for creating altruistic DNA. The images are visually and conceptually interfaced on many levels that represent both the source of the altruistic emanations to be communicated and the means of transmission.


The basis for communicating altruistic emanations to extraterrestrials comes from the mystical doctrine of Kabbalah, a system of communication by the use of numbers, letters, and words. The message form is the Sephirot (Tree of Life) diagram, the major icon and universally recognized symbol of Kabbalah. A translation of the circles and lines of the Sephirot diagram into mathematical formulas can be transmitted by frequency waves into outer space. Then, since numerical values are built into the Hebrew alphabet and words can be reduced to their mathematical equivalent, the actual altruistic emanations can be transmitted numerically.

Alternatively, the altruistic emanations may be prepared for transmission by translation into a mathematical of their genes.


The golem, an artificial anthropoid, was originally conceived as a tool or metaphor to guard against evil and persecution. In this work we construct a new age golem to be a vessel for depositing and dispersing altruistic emanations. Ancient processes, supplemented by current scientific technology, produce the blowfly-golem, the Interstellar Message Vehicle (IMV). A glassblower blows the robot-like carapace out of compost heap of righteous earth. The blowfly, through its life cycle, is the manufacturer of the righteous. It nibbles on the corpses of virtuous sages, and it ingests, incorporates, and transmits their altruistic DNA through its pupae and maggots. Once the golem carapace is molded, it encapsulates, fuses, and stabilizes itself, morphing into the body of the blowfly, an insect of phenomenal muscle efficiency with high energetic currency in all its cells. Signals from the blowfly's high frequency wing oscillations are transferred into electromagnetic waves that carry the golem's message of altruism across space.


Our chimera vehicle for transmitting altruistic emanations to extraterrestrial beings is the blowfly-golem.

Golem deeds are good deeds, so the new age blowfly-golem emanates positive, altruistic messages. It is a living being that encourages other living beings to receive and accept the messages it sends. The blowfly-golem has a body, which we can use physically and metaphorically, to mold and convey our altruistic message.

To begin with a deep analysis I’m going to present you an outline. This would be useful to follow the readling of the hypertext and to understand how it Works, because you could feel lost with such amount of information. I have divided them in groups of two but in order.

Initial will


When you click on ‘Initial will’ the icons on the right, bright up and then you can click on them. You can begin with Brain L, Head or Kidney, it doesn’t matter where you begin. Whichever you click on, a new screen appear with a text. On the right there’s now the images of the Brain L., Head and Kidney. Starting with Kidney, there’s a text that goes with the image. The images are always from symbols, images and people related to Afghanistan.

This is the text you can read and hear if you click on it: the blowfly ‘s maggots enjoy gastronomic intimacy with the righteous corpses who are located beyond the diadema opening.

With the head there’s a new photograph of people from there and the text says: preparations are in hand for crowing the carapace on the blowfly interestellar Vehicle. I think I have to highlight that in the Photo I can see the Word Crown.

The next image is the blowfly on a man where we can see all the topics the hypertext talks about. Here the text says: the chimera blowfly –golem, our interstellar Messaging Vehicle, carries the altruistic wisdom to transmit the emanations.

Whenever you want you can stop the music that goes on with the Pictures. Moreover, on the right there’s a outline of this man with all the point to where you can go.


Wisdom


Starting with the image of the stomach You can see another picture. In this Picture there’s an afghan man looking at a desert place where the blowfly appears again. The text here says: through the blowfly’s Offspring and their metabolic waste. The Earth absorbs the essences of altruistic DNA. In the point ‘bones’ the Pictures ought to take place in a hospital in Afghanistan, so I can see different people with clothes you couldn’t see in a city as, for example, Valencia. At least, here it is less common. The reason why is a hospital is that I can see someone in a bed with a drip. In the text it can be read: the blowfly maggot, having fe don limbs, is tested for suitability for transmitting emanations of altruism.

In ‘Right testes’ the picture is just a blowfly. The photograph is alike to the other Pictures. The text here says: The blowfly, scrouning around temple sources, transforming into an interstellar Vehicle for sending altruistic emanations.


Undestading


Forehead: There’s an image of another blowfly that seems to be a part of a bomb. Afghans run to it and a Word can be read in there: Intelligence. The text here is: To energize transmission to intelligent aliens supplementary mitochondria are loaded onto the chimera blowfly-golem.

When You click on the Left foot an image of a stunning and disgusting blowfly mixes up with the background where lots of people stare at it. The text you can read here says: a busy blowfly ovipositor, it’s said, seeks out the cervices among the sheet-shrouded bodies in which to deposit its eggs.

Clicking on the eye, an image with two people wearing a burka and in the background afghan people , has the following text: concealed blowflies, stare out pupil-less and motionless eyes, as from a latticed burka Windows.


Love:


The image in spine is formed by tents and people covered with burkas. The same blowfly is on the right of the picture. The text here says: a compassionate blowfly embedded with altruistic genes is selected as the interstellar Vehicle.

If you click the ear the image is of a woman holding a baby and other women that I can’t distinguish their faces. The Word LOVE appear in the foreground of the picture. The text that correspond here is: The maggot’s DNA strand is spliced with love.

The last point in ‘Love’ is skin, where the image is a type of cave covered by blowflies. The Word here is NAMES and the text is: at the Entrance to the caves stands the Angel Masamarish receiving the Holy Names of altruism.


Strength


Hair: A man on the left and a blowfly on the right contrasts on this image. The colours go on with the methodic of the hypertext. The colours of the people and the sand are dull and the blowfly is colourful, with green and red on its body. The text We can read here sais: a soldier shoots the blowfly, a former righteous man, punished for a previous transgression.

Muscle: An image o fan DNA structure is combine with the image of men in mails. The words here are two: LIFE/FORCE. The text here is: anti-altruistic life-force viruses are blocked from entering the blood stream of interstaller Communication.

Arm Left: A tanker on the lowest part and a ringle of the DNA structure build the image we can see in this point. A Word in the centre can be read: POWER. The text that goes on with the picture is: In the 3rd, the instar stage, the maggot, driven by its power hooked, searches for sands in which to settle.


Beauty


Uver: An image of a man with a large beard highlighted with colours such as Bellow and red seems a messiah. Other men see him and his picture are White and Black. A Word comes across the picture and it says TOOLS. The text here says: the maggots emerge from their pupae among the pulverized bones, the enriching Tools for righteous Earth.

Sex organs: Vessels is the Word We can see in the picture of this point. Some children and a man feeding the ground are the other things we can see. The text here is: blowfly maggots, destined for cell differentiation in vessels, are winnowed out of the grain.

Body: The image here seems like a blowfly with a human body and guns. People in the background surround it. The Word here is BEAUTY and the text can be read is: A beautiful blowfly with altruistic genes, the intestellar candidate for messaging, emerges form the righteous Earth.


Endurance


Nerves: Men and soldiers appear in this picture with the Word ASPECTS in it. The text says: powerful aspects of impure corpses fill the air.

Intestinal lining: Men and maggots are combined in this image. In the background fingers with a device I can’t figure out . The Word here is Endurance, and the text: the bone marrow cells, injected into the maggot’s heart muscle, improve the blowfly’s endurance and energy currency.

Arm right: People looking at a corpse and the blowfly on it is the image here. The Word is RIGOR and the text: the blowflies must be untained by rigorous feeding on corpses contaminated by genetically engineered legums.


Splendor


Pancreas: The image of a blowfly with people surrounded it is the picture we can see. Moreover it’s the Word Mystical image and the text ‘awed by the mystical image of the blowfly maggot, onlookers wonder whether the maggot carries the altruistic DNA.’

Bladder: The Word PRIMORDIAL is in the background of the picture and the text says: blowflies are woven into the lacy fabric of tortillas for primordial enrichment.

Leg L.: The body of the men we can distinguish at the beginning of the hypertext appears here with people surrounded him. The Word in the image, MAGESTY, refers to him. The text says: leaving the cavern crypt the Majestic Mesamariah ascends without decay, disappointing the blowflies.


Foundation


Lungs: People and soldiers sleeping on the sand are combined with the Word POTENCY. The text says: from the potente righteous Earth, a glassbower forms a globular Golem carapace with which to brace the interstellar blowfly.

Left testes: Colourful blowflies contrast with the background, which is Black and White. The word here is FOUNDATION. The text says: digging the foundation for corpses that have a balance of justice and mercy.

R. foot: The background is a wall an in the centre there’s a line with images of people with hats. In the low part of the picture it is the Word RIGHTEOUS. The text is: in the caves the corpses of the righteous sages guarantee a restricted untainted dieatry menu.

Heart muscle: In this picture the author is comparing the born of a baby with the born of a blowfly, breaking the pupa. The Word here is INNER FACES and the text is: the amture inner maggot breaks the pupa shell, separates itself from the puparium, and nestles into the Earth.


Kingdom


Feet: A lorry getting into a factory with the Word KINGDOM. The text is: the Kingdom of cells convoy moves on to its differentiation destiny.

Soul: What here appears seems to be people praying and claiming. The text is LIGHTS and the text says: the Hunt for blowflies begins the Light of finding a cooperative colony.

Mouth: Afghans are sit down in the sand with the Word MIRRORS in the background. The text here says ‘to mirror altruistic traits, the blowfly carries stem cells from the prison cells into proteins baths’.
