INTERLOCAL CONFLICT

The image above shows the first dramatic consequence of the conflict that arose between two towns in the region of Downland, New Australia. The suburbs of Lattica -one of the towns in conflict- were devastated through several raids carried out by the Undertown's Defensive Airforce (UFA) after some Lattican Offensive Rebels (LOR) had attempted against the airport of Undertown three days ago, killing twenty-three people, including airport workers, travellers, security guards and Walter Lott, the mayor of the town. But with this air raid, which ended with the life of thirty-four citizens, the UFA established a nonsensical vengeance that has monopolised the front pages of all newspapers around the world. A dangerous armed conflict has just begun, and nobody knows where or when it will end.

Controversial subsidies

Everything began when the government of New Australia decided to grant the local administration of Undertown with public subsidies amounting to 750,000 Australian dollars to build a new airport outside the town, while turning down the same amount of money to the administration of Lattica, which demanded the building of a new prison for the region near the attacked suburbs of the picture. The government claimed that that decision was taken after Walter Lott had filed a complaint against Lattica's administration putting forward some irregularities in the distribution of local incomes. A few days later, the LOR organised a public protest in Undertown's airport which finished as we all know. And just three days afterwards, the UFA started a massive counterattack that threatens the life and security of all citizens in both towns. The government has not stated an opinion yet, but the international organisations have already taken an interest in this interlocal conflict and are decided to try to re-establish peace again, using force if necessary.
