Dramatis Personae:

   - Ian: a man 45 years old who is a killer and lives in Leeds. He is astute and clever, in the sense he get everything want using Cate, besides cold. . He has much fear, owing to place situation and nearness of his death, but he doesn’t leave his life of drink and cigarettes. He is in role of oppressor and victim.

 - Cate: a girl 21 years old has gone with Ian this time. She is so innocent that shaves stupidity. She upset much for Ian, she do not stop to say his life is not heatless for him (without to know in what work). She is in role of victim.

 -Soldier: a man frustrated for something of the past. He thinks himself powerless and important for all he had done with his prisoners. He is devoid of moral or conscience. He is in role of oppressor.

Plot:

   Ian and Cate are in a hotel for Ian’s job, she had decided to go with him for he is not alone.

A later awhile, they talk about different things (Cate’s mum, why she must leave her, jobs she has not …) till she faints by embarrassment. When she rises, she begins to talk with him about his health, cigarettes… Suddenly someone call him at hotel, he takes a

and reads. Notice talk about a serial killer who slaughtered a tourist, he laughs. After they follows talking, this time about what seems each one with these clothes, their “love”…

Next day Ian suffer a heart attack, but he continues drinking and smoking, Cate is worried for him and annoyed because he don’t leave this bad life. Later Ian confessed her is a killer, and they begins to discuss about it, and after she will have a bath. Then, it will enter an armed soldier asking for his job and Cate. Soldier search her but she is not in the bathroom. A bomb exploits in the hotel.

Soldier and Ian talk about his Welsh accent, and horrible things that soldiers do, for Soldier it is normal, he do not understand why Ian do not has done nothing seemed. But in a moment Soldier shows his pain also, when he lost his girlfriend, a soldier kill her. After they follows talking about these images and facts, so displeased. Then soldier rapes Ian, he eats Ian’s eyes and he kills himself. Now he is suffering like notice in the newspaper.

Later awhile, Cate arrives with a baby in her arms but is dead, and so Cate decided to bury her and to pray for her. After he goes to eat and leaves Ian, who wants to kill himself and who had eaten the baby.

 Cate come back with his favourite food and drink.

Space and time:

Play develops in a very expensive hotel room in Leeds. There is a large doubled bed, a mini-bar, champagne on ice, a telephone, a large bouquet of flowers and two doors; one is the entrance of the corridor, and the other leads off to the bathroom.

Time is difficult to put, maybe present very near.

Recourse:

Kane had used repetitions, shorts phrases, a colloquial language and metaphors that doesn’t understand very good, like “The sound of spring rain”, at the end of each scene it appears this rain, what could be the pass of the facts, from good to worse. And at the end she had used words “darkness” and “ light”, possibly for show each day and night passed.

Opinion:

   This has been one of my favourite plays that year, because it does you to think so horrible and painful are it occurred in the play. Violence there is inside and is the same in reality every day, that many people see habitual, that pain, sadness, horror, cruelty…, what is a pity.

This author could show reality world does not want to see, and to have it reflect on world we are creating or leaving to be created.

It is very sadness, as world can be to end if we do not stop acts like these.
