THE FUTURE OF THE THEATRE

With this work, I will speak on the evolution of the theatre in the future. Theatre in XIX century, has been an entertaining for the middle-class. People who went to the theatre were people who had money and prestige. The theatrical companies were dedicated to please the pleasures of the conservative and conventional public. However, nowadays most of the people can see plays of theatre because of the fact, money isn’t the problem. The problem now is the unselfishness of people. The future of the theatre is unpredictable, but I think that people are most interesting in the cinema or television. The fault of which the theatre is not as popular as the cinema or the television is the few information and advertisement of this one. The theatre won’t development in a future if we leave it aside and do not give it value. Although its survival is in danger, I think that theatre won’t disappears. In my opinion, the problem is the bad education of people. Doesn’t exist a theatrical culture. Theatre hasn’t social influence. Moreover, the actors of theatre need a bigger preparation than for example, cinema actors, or singers who receive numerous prizes (Grammy, Oscars ...) while actors of theatre don’t have so relevant prizes. The actors of theatre are recognized as artists in small circles; family, friends… We will never forget big authors as Shakespeare, Wilde, Hamlet… but we must recognize the small groups of people who dreams with become as they, and try to make a good play for us. We can recognize their effort, going to see them and trying to understand their job. In spite of some people collaborate with this, a big problem of the theatre, is that it receives few financing, and most of the plays are suspended due to the fact that there isn’t enough money to pay the actors. In my opinion, it would be important for the evolution of the theatre that people give it more importance and they put more interest. In spite of the disappearance of many independents groups at Spanish stage. Theatre has caught more followers due to the musical representations (Abba’s musical), the appearance of companies as Mayumana, the representations of important books such as “El Quijote”, and the increasing of new companies that have could survive such as “Comediants” or “La Fura Dels Baus”. This, has done that young people enjoy seeing theatre. I believe that in a future these representations will continue attracting people, and it will make that theatre grow up. The playwrights of the future will base their plays on society problems like wars, terrorism, catastrophes… Although the people who really is interested on theatre won’t stop going, there are a great number of persons who do not know it and who aren’t interested in it. Because of it, I hope that in a future we all encourage people to know more about theatre and we all can enjoy and learn with it. And I hope that people who are really interested in it, show their non-conformance. With it and with a correct theatrical culture, we will support the theatre alive.
