Subject: English poetry XIX and
XX centuries
Student’s name: Peris Carrascosa, Sara
Title of the paper: Poetry1
“Lines writen in the
early spring”
Author or topic: Wordsworth, William
Abstract: In this poem, we can
see that the author is trying to break with everything written before, because
his book will mean the start of the Romantic movement:
a movement against the aristocracy, and where the nature has a lot of
importance (since the title); and we will see this clearly in the poem, even
antropmorphogically.
In this poem we will se
that Wordsworth (as other people) thinks that humanity is essentially good and
is corrupted by the influence of society.
Title of the paper: Poetry2
“Accepted or rejected in
their societies”
Author or topic: Wordsworth, William; Wilde, Oscar
Abstract: In this paper I try to demonstrate
that the acceptation or rejection of a poet in his society is reflected in his
poetry.
To demonstrate this I
have analyzed the Romantic poet William Wordsworth, and his poem “Stray
pleasures”, and the Victorian poet Oscar Wilde, and his poem “The ballad of the
reading gaol”; and I have shown my theory analyzing their similarities and
differences through their lives, historical and social context and their poems.
Auto-evaluation: I think I deserve an 8 out of 10 due to the fact that I have invested a lot of
time in researching and writing these papers. I have shown my theories and I have
earned much nowledge about Romantic and Victorian poetry.
