Abstract or summary of the research:
     I have chosen Daniel Defoe because he is one of the writers who begins in a realistic way. Before his period the novel is not defined as a gender. The novels Defoe wrote were novels in the sense of modern novels in which the author writes about his real and individual experiences. That is to say that the novels are not based on history or legends but on stories about concrete people.
 Defoe learnt the style of the realistic novel through his profession which was journalism. An example of his realistic novel is Robinson Crusoe which was published in 1719. This novel was so popular that some other novels about Crusoe were written.
