INTRODUCTION
The hypertext I’m going
to analyze is called Cutting Edges,
it was written by Ruth
Nestvold, an American hypertexter and
writer.
In the story there
are many
characters, basically a group of old friends, some of which work in the
editorial office of the monthly Cutting
Edges. The hypertext in fact is based
mostly on the feminine characters and on the feminine world; there are
also masculine characters but they are always related to the women and
the relationship that exist within them. The story tackles also the
issue of the upbringing of the daughters in which both fathers and
mothers have problem, thus we can see the conflict between two
different generations, between parents and daughters.

Other topic, linked
to the one of
feminine somehow, is the fact that the characters belong to the
generation of 60s. And just inspired at the spirit of 68 is
Cutting Edges, the regional magazine in which they work,
whose owner,
editor and publisher is Lyssa, the most idealist of the clique.
The story shows us a
war of the sexes
and let us understand that the society in which we live today is still
sexist. These topics are introduced in a very authentic but no grave
way.
