“Gestas de papá Ubú”

“Gestas de Papá Ubú” is a play written by Raul Henandez Garrido, it is directer by Paco Macià and it is producer by Compañia Ferroviaria de Artes escénicas.

On the one hand I am talking about the characters.

Papá Ubú is the principle characters of this play; he is interpreter by Manuel Herandez.  He is a bad person which the author makes his criticism about human life in humoristic view point. He uses a non-standard vocabulary, it is to say, he uses a new words that does not exist in usual vocabulary. Besides, Mamá Ubu, interpreter by Gema Segura, is other principle character and she is not a prototype of wife because she is a helper of Memnon, when interested her.

Memnon, interpreter by Mario Esteban, is an enemy of Papá Ubú, and he wants to murder him because his objective is to get all power.

This characters and the other are members of a social sub-group with the lexical item that they need to talk about the subject matter within their field, it is to say, they do not follow to the jargon used by linguistics.

The author of this plays use to the imagination in his scenes because the features of each it are very simples.

The lights of the play are generally dark, however, they lights each characters when they talk. There are some different types of lights

Characters wear horrible or informal clothes. It represented the occupation of them in society. One of the characters, it is to say; the thought of Papá Ubú is more funny because he wear a slips and water glasses.

The elements of atrezzo are every creative, for example, there is a high chair, which represents Ubú ´s power, or even a big round object where citizens were threw as he said “a la mierda”. It also appears a type of water in which take lace the end of the play, thus each character disappears.

Theatre ambient was quite calm but there was a woman who was laughing alone all the time.

Front my point of view I think that the play is not interesting to me because the author do not transmit me his criticism. However the play has some humoristic moments that make it more entertained.
