Many people consider the theatre as a passion and not as a job. Nowadays, the validity

of the theatre is asked. Most people use the adjective “entertainment” to refer to the

theatre. We would be able to understand many things if we paid attention while the play

develops, for this reason, I do not think people go to the theatre to have a great time or

to get bored, however, I think that people go to the theatre because they consider it a

hobby. On the other hand, there are people, for example the younger people, who visit

the theatre because they are forced to see theatrical representations and not because the

really want to. I can understand that they prefer to do other things which they consider

better than going to the theatre.

The theatrical representation reflects the social and political problems of the time very

well, for this reason, it must reflect poverty as well as the good things.

Plays influence the audience but that reflection only lasts as long as the play lasts,

because when the people leave the theatre they do not use the information which the

play transmits to them to change or to modify their lives.

INE, Instituto Nacional de Estadística, (Nacional Institute of Statistic) says that there is

a difference between the cinema and the theatre and it adds that people consider the

cinema to be more important than the theatre.

Perhaps the reason why going to the cinema is cheaper than going to the theatre is

because traditionally films are made by rich companies who can afford to charge less

and traditionally at the theatre you pay extra for the experience, for the quality of acting

and performance.

However, I consider to pay a reasonable price to see a play is a good option because

carry out their jobs and you enjoy seeing them.

The theatrical plays use modern methods to catch the audience’s attention, for example

the utilisation of lighting in order to give more emotion, but it is a little dangerous

because we must not forget that the characters are the people who perform for us and

not the special effects and the sounds.

Some people love to go to the theatre and I am sure that these people will not stop going

to the theatre to watch T.V. or to go to the cinema, however there are people who have

never gone to the theatre and they state that they do not like going to the theatre.

In my opinion, when teenagers are children their parents should teach them that going to

the theatre is not an obligation but a hobby.

All plays are not the same. There exist plays which are boring but there are plays which

are amusing and funny. However, I think if a group of people see the same play, when

the play finishes each person will have a personal opinion about that play, some people

will like seeing it but other people will not like seeing it. In my opinion, people’s

reactions depend not only if they liked the interpretation of the play but also their

previous knowledge.

In my point of view, the theatre will never disappear because there will always be

people who go to the theatre and these people will value the job of Theatrical Company.

Moreover, I think that nobody will forget Shakespeare.
