Plot:

Len begins living at Pam´s home. Len is in love with Pam and they begin a relationship.

However, Pam has got sexual relationship with Fred and they have a child. Fred does

not want to know anything about his child and Pam. Len loves Pam, and for this reason

he helps her. One day, Pam lets the baby to Fred; however, Fred and his friends mistreat

him and it causes his death. For this reason, Fred goes to prison. When Fred goes out

of the jail, Pam falls in love with him; but Fred does not want anything with her.

Henry thinks his wife is unfaithful to Len. Pam wants Len to leave her home because

she thinks Fred does not want to know anything about her because of Len. At

the end, Len, Pam, Mary and Henry live in the same home but they do not speak one

another.

Setting:

The play sets up on the South of London. The scenes one, four, eight, nine, eleven and

thirteen develop at Pam`s home, in the sitting room. The scenes two, three, six, and

seven take place in the park; the scenes five and twelve develop in Len`s bedroom.

Time:

This play occurs in the present. It has got a chronological order. We do not know how

long the play last.

Literary devices: Style.

This play is written in prose, with short dialogues when the play begins. However, these

dialogues increase when the play goes on. The author uses an ordinary language. In fact,

he uses abreviations which are not very common in formal English written. It makes

difficult to understand the meaning.

Opinion:

This play is very long. For this reason we can say there are different ideas about which

we can speak. For example, “unfaithfulness and bad luck in the families”. The author

uses oral devices and he does not use the writhen language. Maybe, I surprise when I

read Fred has killed his child. In fact, nowadays it occurs in our society. From my point

of view, everybody has to make his/her mind up to heal the world.
