Characters:
Tom: He works in a shoe shop. He is a dreamer. He wants to be a sailer. He remembers when they were a happy family, before his father left. He does not like his mother and for this reason he speaks badly about her. Tom has got strong feelings for his sister. He is a rebellious and adventurer boy.
Jim: He is Tom’s friend and he works with Tom in the shoe shop.
Laura: She is Tom’s sister. She is disabled because she has a limp. Like Tom, she is a dreamer. She loves a boy but she does not want him to know it, for this reason when she sees hem she seems to be dancing.
Amanda: She was married to a gay man. They had two children, Laura and Tom. The gay man left the family home. Thus, this family had economic problems and they had to survive. Tom thinks bad things about his mother.
Setting:
The play begins in the sitting- room, the whole play occurs inside the house, however, outside the house there are a lot of people. On the right, at the bottom is the exist door, on the right, close up is the exist to the shed.
Lighting:
There are two spotlights which light the stage. The main spotlights is permanent, however, the other one highlights the people who are speaking.
Costumes:
The characters use old-fashioned clothes but their costumes change in the second act and they use smart dresses.
Props:
On the stage, there is a table, with some chairs, the two sofas and an armchair.
We can see a little glass table which has got a lot of little figures.
The audience:
The audience reacted very well, they had a great time but as the time passed some people were bored.
Personal Opinion:
I liked seeing this play, because the characters were very funny and I laughed a lot with some characters, for example, with Laura. However, I think the play lasted a long time.
