The International Board of ELSA

The International Board is the supreme executive body of the association. Its members are elected at the Spring Council Meeting for a one-year period. The International Board is responsible for the overall co-ordination of the organisation as a whole; including the support of member groups both locally and nationally, the collection and redistribution of information throughout the network to ensure the fullest participation possible at all events.

The International Board also co-ordinates and develops ELSA's collaboration with various international organisations and institutions, governments, law firms and companies across Europe.

The International Board consists of 7 positions. The members of the International Board work full-time at the international Headquarters in Brussels on a voluntary basis.

Organisation Structure

On a local level the ELSA Network is organised in local groups subscribing themselves to the aims and activities of ELSA. Local Groups are represented either based on Faculty-status or Municipality-status depending on the national group’s regulations.

On a national level the ELSA Network is organised in national groups represented by annually elected National Boards. On the international level a national group has the right to represent its local groups and vote on their behalf in the international council of ELSA.

Internationally ELSA is represented by the International Board. The International Board consists of President, Secretary General, Treasurer, Vice President in charge of Marketing, Vice President in charge of Academic Activities, Vice President in charge of Seminars and Conferences, and Vice President in charge of the Student Trainee Exchange Programme.

These seven members of the International Board, the supreme executive body of ELSA, work full time in the main office of ELSA located in Brussels, Belgium. The International Council elects the International Board every year for their term that is 12 months long.
