TOOLS
The author has decided that her work was reading in a linear way, that
is, we have to follow the steps given by her. Itīs a tidy way to read, like a
book, in which the text is divided in 10 chapters and if it want read some
again, it can do it.
“Arbor
Erecta” can be analysed by
many ways, but firstly Iīm going to focus on the links:
The hypertext has 138 links; all of them are black and
after clicking them, they change to violet colour.
At the title page, there is one under the title who is in 'a
botanical concept for masculinity' (who drives us to chaptersī
index) but when we click on it and go back, in this same page appears
now 3 links(both of them appears at the bottom of page): one is the same that
before; another one is “Table of Contents”(who drives us at the
chaptersī index too) and the last is “Credits”(who drives us to the
thankfulness, copyright and bibliography of her work); in this last page
appears other link, “home”, to front page.
At the chaptersī index page, there are 21 links. Itīs a page in
which each chapter is identified by an image of a plant, an each image has a
link to each chapter, so there are 10 links . Besides, at the bottom of page,
the name of chapters is written and underlined and each one has a link to its
corresponding chapter, so there are 10 links more. The last link is under the
chapters written and underlined and it corresponds to “Home”(front
page).
At the ten chapters, there are the 88 links that lack. They are
sorted depending the chapter:
- Chapter 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9:
11 links: “Table of contents”, “Home” and the rest of the
links that corresponds to chapters.
- Chapter 2:
13 links: “Table of contents”, “Continue”(who drives us to
next chapter), “Back”(who drives us to back chapter), “ Home” and
the rest drives to chapter 1 or chapter 3 forwards.
- Chapter 10: 12 links: “Table
of contents”, “Home”, “Credits” and the rest of chapters
between 1 and 9.
Another aspect is the structure:
The
hypertext has 10 chapters and to read all the text you have to click 12 times
until “Credits”. There are 13 different pages:
