The Black Album, Faber & Faber: London,1995. Kureishi´s second novel deals with love , liberalism and fundamentalism. Shahid , the main character, goes to the London of 1989 , the year of the fatwath. In this case he changes his tragicomic style for a new one and the result is an interesting thriller with a background of raves, ecstasy, religious ferment and sexual passion. |

Intimacy, Faber & Faber: London,1998. During one night, Jay, has to decide if he leaves his partner and their two sons. In this novel , we find a flow of thoughts, ironical commentaries, agonies and ups and downs in their relation. Kureishi´s tone is more serious and he reflects part of his maturity by means of what goes on inside and by facing up to a complicated topic : the valuable privacy. |
