Abstract:  My essay will deal with Mary W. Shelley's relevance of her influences. The explanations of 'Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus' tend to rely on the biographical aspects of her life. Therefore, this could be a lack if we search for and explanation of the book itself and its content: we could abandone the reflexion about his master novel and talk endlessly about her life. To what extent are we conditioned by these methods? To what extent can we explain the novel by understanding the writer's experiencies? Could we be terribly mislead if we rely on such a comfortable method of explanation?
