MY OPINION
First of all
I would like to say that I have really enjoyed working on this
hypertext. It was the first time I had analyzed this kind of text. It was
interesting because it was different comparing to normal linear text.
The story was very
attractive for me especially because the author decided to use pronoun YOU
referring to the reader. And this is why you identify better yourself with the
protagonist.
It is also interesting because it
talks about real things. It represents simple people copying with daily
problems and routines. People living for today. They don’t think too much about
their future and say nothing about the past. In my opinion, nowadays, we can
find a lot of people living lives as these characters and this makes the story
more absorbing.
However, analysis of
the hypertext can result very difficult and confusing. I had to cope with
several problems such as summary and structure.
When I decided to elaborate a
structure of this hypertext I didn’t think it would be so difficult. You must
pay attention to each click and be careful.
Another problem I had was how to
summarize the story. I didn’t know where to start and which way follow and this
is why I decided to describe different situations.
There is only one thing
I don’t like and it is the end. I didn’t find my cousin, nobody said me
anything and I don’t know what else will happen.
It is an open-ended story which many
readers may find interesting because they can imagine the end how they want.
For me it has no end anyway.
I
would like to give you some information about the author and her opinion of her
work but it results impossible to find any information about her life, her
works….There isn’t any webpage dedicated to Phillipa J.Burne. It is a pity
because she would answer many questions you ask yourself while reading her
hypertext. I hope one day some information will be available.
To sum up I just want
to recommend this hypertext to anyone who likes reading. It is very attractive and you can go through
it your own way. You have no limits.
I think it would be also interesting
to see this work not only as story but also as a complex of difficult
structures and links.
