Aldous Huxley

        Huxley (Aldous Leonard), Britain Writer (Godalming, Surrey,1894-Hollywood 1963). He studied in Eton and graduated in medicine in the Balliol College of Oxford (1915), although he did not work as a doctor because of an illness of his eyes which produced him blindness for a long time. He was member of the group of the magazine "Athenaeum"  and published imaginism poems "Leda"1920, but he was not famous since he published his first novel "Crome yellow" 1921. Since that date and during all the period between wars, years in which he spent a long time in Italy (1923-1930) and realised some travels until he definitely instaled in California (1937). His name is joined to a very intellectualised novel which shows an scepticism paradoxal and corrosive "Antic Hay" 1923, "Point counter point" 1928, "Brave new world", 1932, "Eyeless in Gaza", 1936, "After many a     summer", 1939. He was married with Laura Huxley.
        He is also the author of numerous essay books which are very curious and very cultural. In the last part of his career was very influenced by the
 misticism and the Budism: "On the margin", 1923, "Along the road", 1925, "Music at night", 1931, "Ends and means", 1937, "The perennial philosophy", 1946, "Ape and essence", 1948. He also wrote tales under the title "Mortal coils", 1922.
