CONCLUSION

As a conclusion we could say that Hermia is an important character for the play because of her actions. I think that her most important action is her reaction to his father, when he told her to marry the man he has chosen for her. At that time, this type of marriages where very common, what was not so usual was that the girl rejected it. And this is what happens in this play, Hermia is bold opposing her father’s decision, since she wants to marry the man she loves. So, we could say that she takes control about her destiny. Therefore, we could point out her bravery, she is also strong-minded, and strong-willed with clear ideas on life mainly on love and marriage.

On the other hand, through the book and especially through the dialogues we get other characteristics such as physical and a psychological description of this character, i.e, we know that she is young, short but good-looking lady, and also well-educated, well-spoken, intelligent.

At the end of the play we have a happy ending in which everything is restored; Theseus commands the wedding, so Hermia can marriage Lysander without any opposition. As we have seen, this is a romantic comedy, so we have romantic characters and one of them is Hermia, since she fights against everything, against her father, her friend for love.
