Subject: # 14217 Poesía Inlgesa Siglos XIX y XX Grupo A

Student´s name: Reche Carpio, Cristina

First paper’s title: William Wordsworth: “Surprised by joy, impatient as the wind”.

Author or topic: Wordsworth, William (1770-1850).

Abstract: This complete analysis of Surprised by joy-impatient as the wind provides the reader with a wide variety of interpretations. First of all, you will find a kind of setting frame of both the poem and the poet. Afterwards, there is a wide idealistic and prosodic study full of interesting perspectives and symbol-interpretation section. Finally, the reader will find some personal observations I have made about the consequence that the word death can have upon the human being mind. However, it is not my intention to reveal more details about this whole work. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you.

Second paper’s title: Death perceived throughout the 18th and 19th centuries’ literature

Author or topic: Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) and Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909).

Abstract: In this second paper, the reader will be provided with a comparative study of both Romantic and Victorian literature. Beforehand, I must indicate that due to technical problems, I have not been able to upload several images so as to get a better comprehension of the themes. Instead, there are many links through the whole project, which will lead the reader to those illustrations. Although there is much we could say or make reference to on the historical eras just mentioned, my focus deals strictly with the idea of radicalism and how it affected the different authors to interpret the notion of death. What is more, a brief preface has been included so as to sum up these ideas better. In addition, as also did in the first project, there is a special point focusing on the symbolical meaning of the main topic.

Again, I expect you to enjoy yourselves with it.

Thank you.

Auto-evaluation: Honestly, I consider that the first project as the result of hard research and study. I admit, however, that-as always- all that we do in our lives can be improved. Nonetheless, I strongly believe this is a complete analysis of a poem. My mark… I will get conformed to an 8.5. About the second paper, it has instructed me new data about the Victorian Era. From the first effort to contrast the poems until the last one to reach some logical conclusions I have dedicated myself to it. By this I mean that the important aspect here is not the mark I get- of course, it is important but not so as the new doors opened to knowledge. Being, thus, “materialistic” I will punctuate myself with a 8.

As a whole, I believe I deserve an 8 as my whole mark.
