Adrienne
Eisen is an interesting woman with a story which must be heard. She is what we call “a futuristic woman” (it
means she is well prepared for the future). Although, from a beginning she
wasn’t very sure about what she wanted (hence the change of her names), she has
always had one thing clear: to stand out. Through many efforts she has obtained
a life plenty of triumphs. If you think of the typical “American dream”, she
can be the main chapter. As she supports her family, Adrienne Eisen has gotten
to work in the most visited business online for any economist. She has also managed to create her own blog, which has more than 500 posts.
As it is said there “Penelope is the founder of 3 startups -- most recently, Brazen
Careerist, a web service to help companies find candidates. Her career
advice appears in more than 200 newspapers and magazines including Time
magazine, San Francisco Chronicle and Boston Globe. In a
review of this blog, Business Week called Penelope's writing poetic.”
Her works talk
about subjects related to todays society. By using topics which are taboo (such
as sex, masturbation, cheating, homosexuality…) in some societies, her works
can be criticized and exposed as immoral. However, what should not be denied is
the liberty of expression and the necessity to forget those taboos which
actually coexist between us, starting by the news, newspaper, radio or even
issues of study in schools and colleges. It’s hard to think that in the society
where we live, in the XXI century, there are still people who don’t accept
those facts or actions. Yet, the society where the author is from (the USA) is
still hard to gain a large diversity of readers of her works. That is right
where you notice the notorious courage of Adrienne Eisen, which makes her remarkable.
Adrienne Eisen
also has a capacity that not all the writes have: that is the knowledge of
playing with words to turn the text into a monologue written in a hilarious
style. This allows Adrienne to express her own ideas in a way that the reader
doesn’t even become conscious because he will be too immersed in the internal
jokes, the brightness and the happiness of the text itself.
In my opinion
her works wouldn’t develop into a scandol in Europe, as I believe we are a
society more open-minded than the States. On the other hand, societies change
as well as cultures do, and I feel that the USA are also having some flattering
changes, which lead to accept Adrienne’s work with a bigger expectation than if
they had been written 10 years ago.

Considering
a baby?
is from my point of view a rejuvenated work. What does that mean? Well, it
rejuvenates the thoughts about the pregnant woman.
She leaves aside matters of whims, pain, suffering or insomnia and instead, she
talks about women as what they are: women, with her sexual desires, her hates,
thoughts and paranoia. I had never read before that a pregnant woman has her
sexual hormones more revolutionized than ever. Or that men have an
over-obssession for breasts while being pregnant (because they look bigger than
usually); and that the woman has to let him play with them so there is no loss
of the sexual relation between them both. Those are subjects that sincerely I
don’t know if they are true or not, as I haven’t been or am I pregnant at all,
but that at least I can always know for the future.
Considering
a baby?
has been an easy hypertext to read, without any complexity more than the vocabulary that sometimes was way
too colloquial and made me frequent the
dictionary several times. As a whole, the hypertext has been mild, pleasant and
enjoyable, short but meaningful. Also
the way the author has constructed it is very simple. There are no problems to
go from one link to another, it is also easy to come back where you were
before, and it is not a very complex hypertext anyways which leads the text to
be read more than twice in the same day.
The most
outstanding point, which I think is worth to comment, is the humor that the
author uses to write. That is a point that I have named before in other
sections of my work, but that I keep considering that is what makes the
hypertext to be what it is. I have actually read the hypertext more than five
times, following the same options chosen before, and there are some parts that
always crack me up. For example when I get to month 5, your cobra, I
imagine a naked woman laying on the floor in a cobra position, in order to
masturbate without her huge belly being a bother. Another month that makes me
laugh out loud is the end of the sixth, your mucus,
when the husband told his wife to put a bra on or her breasts will be saggy. I
picture another naked woman sitting in the toilet, showing to her husband with
a bounty face of happiness the disgusting mucus that originates in her vagina,
because she didn’t have a miscarriage; whereas her husband looks at her with an
extra gross expression but trying to look happy for her. And how does her
facial expression change right after her husband says the commentary about her
breasts. I think that is a very humorous situation, and that is what has made
people gain more curiosity towards Adrienne.
