My work
is focused on the artwork of the american author Sonya Rapoport, “Arbor Erecta”
, published in 1998. “Itīs an adaptation of the story of the transsexual
change of James from female to male”,as itīs said in the narrative.
However,
to achieve Jamisonī aim, the author has included in the story a fictional
narrative in which, the Papua New Guinea tribal initiation rites of bonding
with a Pandanus tree, will help her to it. Itīs a narrative who blend botany,
culture and a real story of the live of a women who felt man. While the
masculinity grows up inside the female body of Jamison, she goes on the tribal
rites that will clean the feminity given by the nature.
The
analysys of the artwork is made from the point of view of tools, so you can find it
clicking on it. There, you will see how is structured the text, images and all
the elements provided by Sonya Rapoport in her work. Besides, Iīve added some
descriptions of the images that appear in “Arbor Erecta”
In
addition to this, you will find some aspects of Jamison Greenī life due
to their importance with the narrative.
Both of
informations (images and Jamisonīlife) are useful to illustrate and to make
easy the understanding of the artwork.
Lastly,
Iīve included a conclusion
of the artwork, in which I explain what feelings the text has got me and a bit
reflection on the transsexuality, as well as a personal opinion
(enclosed into the conclusion) where I explain why Iīve chosen Sonya Rapoport
and that specific work, and if her work has pleased me or not and why.
