PERSONAL OPINION

The reading of this hypertext seemed to me rather difficult. Even though it is not very vast, it doesn’t follow a linear or chronological structure as books do, so you can never know where the beginning is, neither the sequel nor the end of it.  But I must point out that each author has carried on the hypertext with his particular way, that’s why you can find that the story coexists with different paths that you can follow, and it depends on the one you choose to read in one order or in another one this story (not for this reason we must forget that the order continues being chaotic). This fact just means that each person will choose the way they are going to read the hypertext, but at the end, everybody will have read the same content.

Another aspect that I found difficult is that whenever I closed the web page and I opened it again, the order of the links was changed. Then, the next time I wanted to read the hypertext, I realized that when finally I thought I had found the “logical” sequence of the story, now it was different, so this made me a little bit crazy because I’m not used to read in a no-logical order, that’s why I would like to say that even though I found out that the number of people who read hypertexts is currently increasing step by step and they defend this kind of reading as more interactive and maybe personal, as far as I’m concerned, I prefer the conventional way, reading in a paper-based format and in a linear way, as books provide.

As I pointed out before, this hypertext is written by several persons, who are not known as in other cases because they are young students like me who published some of their writings in a web page, and maybe they have never had any kind of contact with the concept of hypertext, that’s why I decided not to get in touch with them, as I wasn’t sure whether they could provide me any useful information in connection with this subject or this hypertext. Otherwise, I would have asked them questions like why one of them, suddenly, for no reason at all, decides the main character to die, or why another “author” writes that her mother will also die without any kind of explanation, or as in another case, another one who prefers to shatter the dreams of the main character, pulling down the building of the production company of the Star Search show.

Eventually, I would have also asked if they think the final result of the hypertext they have collaborated into seems to be coherent to them.
